Many of the cats who find shelter at our sanctuary are feral, and not ideal for living with families indoors. However, some of our furry friends are kittens, or used to live indoors, are younger and more domesticated, spayed, vaccinated, and ready to find permanent new homes! Please send an email to catpeoplemiami@gmail.com if you are interested in providing a forever home to one of our sanctuary cats. A $45 tax-deductible donation to our sanctuary, references, and signed agreement to provide photos of the adopted cat alive and well in your happy, healthy environment (immediately upon request) will be required.
MR. PURRS, 3 years old
Mr. Purrs is a regular at our sanctuary, as we've nursed the lover-cat back to health many times following his misadventures in courtship. We are in the process of having him neutered and vaccinated, but he will be ready for rehoming in about two weeks! Contact us using the information in our footer for more details.
SYLVIA, 3 years old
Sylvia is a small-framed, friendly tuxedo cat who my neighbor found afraid and alone hiding underneath a car when she was just a kitten. She had been abandoned by her mother, so my neighbor, a fellow animal lover, took her in and bottle fed her goat milk (the best milk for kittens and cats who can't feed from their mothers) until she was old enough for cat food. Unfortunately, my neighbor was already caring for three dogs, so she begged me to take her in at the sanctuary, and has since moved away.
Sylvia loves to cuddle up in your lap, or curl around your feet, until she finds a comfy place to rest. She is very playful, enjoys catnip and likes to play hide and seek. She likes indoors and out. Is Sylvia the cat for you?
KITTY, 2 years old
Kitty is a cutie with the largest, most expressive eyes you'll ever find on a cat! Her fur pattern is a colorful mix of grey, black and copper circles. She is two years old and very polite: If you say good morning, she will happily greet you back. Kitty is friendly, fearless and enjoys being pet.
She started visiting the sanctuary when she was a kitten and has a healthy appetite. Her charms have brought her a fair amount of success in soliciting meals from multiple low-income caregivers in the neighborhood, but what she really needs is a stable family she can call her own. She loves indoors and out.
ANGEL, ~10 years old
Angel is a sweetheart which is how she earned her name. She is the least fussy cat you could ever meet and quite friendly. She enjoys feeding time, a good pet down, and curling up on a soft bed, couch or patio chair for a long nap. Angel has no problem communicating exactly what she needs: a stern meow means she's ready to eat, a gentle graze of your leg means she's ready for a rub down.
Angel lost her tail many years before she joined the sanctuary--a well-meaning caregiver tried to care for her when she noticed Angel's tail was infected. Unfortunately, the caregiver didn't know that applying hydrogen peroxide would further damage Angel's infected tissue, and cause the tail to fall off completely. (***Please note: alcohol and hydrogen peroxide can damage the tissue of cats and dogs and delay their healing. It's better to use a mild antiseptic solution like chlorhexidine diacetate or povidone-iodine.)
