Community Cat Caregivers of Miami: A Non-Profit Organization That Helps Stray Cats and Their Human Friends by Miami Biz Journal
If you live in Miami-Dade County, you probably have seen many stray cats roaming around your neighborhood. Most of the time, these cats are not pets, but rather community cats, who live outdoors and depend on the kindness of human caregivers for food, water, and shelter. Some of these caregivers are volunteers who devote their time and money to help these feline friends, while others are residents who simply share their space and resources with the cats.
However, caring for community cats is not an easy task. It requires a lot of commitment, compassion, and coordination. It also involves challenges such as finding affordable spay/neuter services, vaccinations, veterinary care, and cat food, as well as dealing with potential conflicts with neighbors, landlords, or local authorities.
That’s why Noelle Barnes founded Community Cat Caregivers of Miami, Inc. (CCCM) in 2023, to assist South Florida-based community cat caregivers with securing the resources they need to provide for the cats in their communities. Noelle is a community cat caregiver and sanctuary manager serving the Brownsville community. She shares her story of how she became involved with CCCM with Miami Biz Journal. Read more.
